bass Lyndall Bass has been studying art since she was a young girl. She worked first with private tutors then at local art classes and finally at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts.
Her work has always been a reflection of the great European traditions, focused on classical techniques and collective thought about the arts through history. Her personal choice of subject matter has included still life and portrait as well as narrative compositions. Oil painting has been the main medium for Bass, with constant drawing in various media a lifelong companion as well. Her floral compositions have been reproduced widely and included in national reviews and publications about flower painting. The dominant element in her still life compositions is a quiet intense meditation that captures the essential qualities of objects, living plants and light. In recent years she has been focused on narrative figure painting and drawing.
